Are you ready for Mercury Retrograde?

It stations May 18th at 13:09 Gemini at 6:50 pm PT / 9:50 pm ET. And will go direct June 11th at 4:34 Gemini at 3:33 pm PT / 6:33 pm ET.

Have you made sure to service your car, clean your computer, check your phone batteries and carefully review all travel itinerary? Take time to do these things now. This retrograde is in the sign that Mercury rules - Gemini and thus will really create havoc with communications if it activates your chart in any challenging way.

On the other hand if it is activating your chart in a trine or sextile and there are good aspects, you will find it a great time to have negotiations work in your favor. Excellent time to renegotiate contracts. But if you do not know your chart.. take time to learn it.

No matter what you do, this is a period of time to pay extra close attention to what is said. When getting directions, make sure to go over them twice, if signing contracts make sure to have others you trust review them too.. and an attorney if it involves serious investments. Check on things you have looked into purchasing in the past and knowing that it is a retrograde, you may find an amazing deal that will only require you to get what the person tells you in writing.

This is not a time where relying on a verbal agreement or handshake is safe, no matter how many times you have done it in the past. Why? Because people do not hear each other as clearly during retrograde periods, so they tend to result in misunderstandings. Get it in writing.

Who needs to pay closer attention? Anyone with a Sun, Moon or Mercury in Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces, Scorpio and Capricorn. That will be most people. But the degrees for direct activations are: 13 degrees and 4 degrees with hits in between those numbers. If you do not know your chart, go to

Here we are between the eclipses.. the energy of Jupiter getting ready to move direct is filling my world... I am already seeing things bloom without my doing more than putting out my hand to welcome them.

Mercury Retrograde is Finally Over!

So we have finally cleared Mercury Retrograde! What a ride this one has been. Weather wise it has been horrific all over the country with true Uranian challenges, which of course is the combined work of the Uranus Pluto square. But in terms of internet, computers, phones and communication it has been a mess around here.

Phew, so glad we are clearing and are now in a beautiful new moon period.

New Moon at 29 degrees Aquarius

29 degree Aquarian new moon.. so we are once more being asked to cooperate and get it right internationally. 29 is a critical degree and it indicates we need to finish up something that has been started a while ago. Aquarius is the constellation of this new age.. an age of brotherhood. A time where we must begin to realize that everyone shares the same emotions and needs no matter where they live or what they look like or believe. It is on these human (or humanitarian) grounds that the playing field becomes level and brotherhood and cooperation can take hold. The new moon says look again, try anew, find a new approach.

While all of this may seem an international and planetary consciousness issue, it may also be active in your personal life, so think about your own life and who you have not seen clearly or who you have not given a full chance. Now is the time to view friends and ideas from a new perspective.

Jan 2015 Mercury Retrograde, Tom Brady, Ebola, Charlie Hebdo

The first 2015 Mercury Retrograde is in Aquarius the sign of revolution, change, brotherhood, science, logic, genius, healing, and cooperation.

Most astrologers note that Mercury Retrograde has a shadow which activates about two weeks before and two weeks after it stations, though in individual charts it could take place earlier or later depending on activation of the person's natal and progressed planets and luminaries.

Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius, indicates unexpected finds, discoveries, thoughts we did not realize were valuable. It is a time to rediscover our own genius and the genius in our friends. A time to consider brotherhood and how to make the playing field equal for all without distinction of race, money, religion or any other label. Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius calls us to review what freedom is, what we have fought to free in the past and what is worthy of the fight right now.

Since Uranus the ruler of Aquarius is in the ground breaking sign of Aries while still in a challenging aspect to Pluto, there is no doubt this retrograde will include many headlines and new turns of events that will cause us step into a greater brotherhood (more cooperation) in a variety of ways.

Mercury's retrograde shadow began January 7th, 2015 in most of the Western world with a shocking event in Paris France. the murders at Charlie Hebdo.

With Mercury (the planet of speech) in Aquarius (the sign of freedom) it is not surprising that the issues of Freedom of Expression or Freedom of Speech hit the spotlights under its shadow. But Mercury alone could not activate such a horrific event, it would get the message out and dig up all the old experiences, reasons and self-sabotaging issues, but it acted as a trigger for Uranus (revolution) in Aries (foot soldiers, aggressive warriors) and Pluto (explosions, transformer) in Capricorn (ancient rules, structures, governments, and disciplines) who have been dancing in a square for a long time to launch out of the loaded gun. Here is the chart for January 7th in Paris at 11:30 am, the time reported for the horrific murders.

The power house T-square indicates purpose, karma, transformation and a call to leadership for President Hollande. Hidden behind this explosive powerhouse is the yod between Pluto in Capricorn, Chiron in Pisces and the finger of God points to the Moon in Leo, the people of the nation in the 6th house. This yod says it all. The creatives in the workplace of the nation will bear the karmic burden because they have sabotaged themselves driven by their soul family mission, to press forward the transformation of the government and the ancient structures (religions) that continue to elude and sabotage the people.

Tom Brady & Deflate-gate

As Mercury continued to its actual stationing, the NFL playoffs took place in the United States. On Sunday, January 18th, The New England Patriots led by Tom Brady under the direction of Bill Belichick played in Boston, Massachusetts against the Indianapolis Colts for the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl and this game would surface an issue directly related to Mercury.

Mercury is the planet of quarterbacks, it rules all things that move rapidly such a spinning football. The football is both a message (Mercury is a messenger) between the quarterback and the receiver and also a vehicle used to travel over a space faster than feet can travel.

The Patriots pounded the Colts in a crushing win 45 to 7, but woke up to a controversy the next day. It was revealed that 11 of the 12 footballs used in the game were severely under-inflated thus creating an advantage for the Patriots both in throwing and holding onto the ball.

This has taken place not only as Mercury began to station retrograde but while Pluto & Uranus are still dancing in their challenging square. Uranus is both fame and infamy, while Pluto is destruction & rebirth. Together they are explosive and unpredictable. Mercury will continue to move retrograde and it will activate the Pluto Uranus square on the 26th & 27th, and we may see a few more issues rise to the table at that time.

But what will happen to Tom Brady?

Looking at Brady's chart, it is clear he is not only a super fast quarterback but that he is working through a lifetime with good karma written all over it. He has the marks of a super athelete with the blessings of Betelgeuse, the fixed star of Orion that gives the individual success despite lies or unacceptable activity. (If you have read some of my past entries, you will recall that President George W. Bush has this great star in his chart too.)

Here is Tom Brady's natal (birth) chart.

You can instantly see this man has a love of speed and athletics, (Moon in Aries) and that he has the physical ability to achieve it. The ruler of his physical form is Venus in the ninth house in Cancer sextile to Mercury in Virgo in the 11th, precise detailed intellect sextile to Uranus in Scorpio in the first house which adds speed, sudden unexpected ability to make changes in direction or thought, flashes of insight and an intuitive edge that may seem uncanny to those watching him.

Mars relates to our energy or go power, Tom's is in the Eighth house, which it rules, giving it still more power and it is in the sign of Gemini, the fastest, most agile sign of the zodiac. His Mars is in a trine to Pluto in the twelfth house indicating he is empowered with tranformative balance, part of his past life legacy. This means he is not only fast and agile but has a strong center of balance, not easy to knock over or will seldom lose his footing. All of these aspects lend to his amazing ability as a quarterback.

But is Tom really honest? 

He was born with Neptune in retrograde squaring his Mercury, so he is someone who is challenged by the truth or with lies and what he values. But when he was born the aspect is slightly out of reach and at this point in his life, the progressed Neptune has gone direct so it will not turn him in. He will get away with many indiscretions and most definitely already has. The trine from his Sun to Neptune gives him success, or people who are leaders in his field will open doors for him to resolve the tangles he creates.

So what can we expect to happen to Tom Brady due to Deflate-Gate?

Not much is what I expect. There may be a fine as Saturn moves retrograde through his second house. There is stress for him, but all in all his good karma will carry him through. Times to watch are around April 17th and late August to early September. What I would say to him if he were my client is, "This is a test for you, Tom. Pay attention, don't sabotage your future with underhanded ways. The nodes were active in this incident, that signature indicates you are testing yourself to see if you will step beyond the ways of sabotage from past lives. Getting away with a lie now is only a little carrot to tempt you further and test you. Become honest at every level and you will find greater peace as well."

But even as I say this to Tom, I have no expectations he will listen. I can see issues that will arise this time next year when Saturn activates his Neptune / Mercury aspect while Pluto squares his nodes and Uranus conjoins his South Node bringing something suddenly to the news about a coverup. At that time with Pluto as the nadir (the bottom of his chart) it will be an extremely difficult experience and not so light as this one.

Also key during this retrograde is the Ebola Vaccine

Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius can bring forth a new way through old means that may resolve issues with this strange disease. Yesterday* on January 23rd, it was announced that a new, barely tested vaccine would ship out to Africa next Friday. The fact that this is being done during the Mercury Retrograde tells us it will not be the last. There will be more, but it indicates a positive more cooperative future for humanity, the very lesson that Mercury in Aquarius is helping us to learn.

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is one of the four power points of energy for change. 

Astrologically it is when the Sun enters the Cardinal Earth Sign of Capricorn which is ruled by Saturn. 

Saturn is the planet that requires you to get things done. It does no allow procrastination and under hard transit if you have not built the structure, had the discipline or followed the law, it will remove your options and whatever you have tends to fall apart or is taken away. For criminals it is the end of their freedom, for the average procrastinator, they will find they have to start all over again from scratch. 

Saturn also represents the Father and those in positions of authority. It is the government, your boss and whatever patriarch you follow. 

When we do what Saturn asks of us in our charts, whether it is to build a relationship or a career, if we follow a solid discipline when the hard transit hits, we receive the accolade. All Academy Awards can be traced to a Saturn experience in the charts of the winners. 

The story of the three little pigs demonstrates Saturn perfectly. The pig who builds the house of stone or bricks has followed Saturn's call. He has thought it through more clearly, set a plan and followed through.

First Mercury Retrograde of 2014 Activates Mutable & Fixed Signs - 3 Pisces to 18 Aquarius

Mercury stationed retrograde last Thursday, Feb 6th, at 3 Pisces. This may have caused some issues or return contacts for anyone who has a planet or luminary between 0 and 4 degrees of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius; as well as anyone with planets or luminaries between 28 - 29 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio. Mercury will activate fixed signs going back to 18 degrees, when it finally stations on Direct again on February 28th.

So what can you expect?

That will depend on the placement in your chart of the planets or luminaries that are activated. It can bring back old loves, or can give you the courage to walk away again. Could bring you old money, or old money issues. Could also give you an opportunity to return to an old job or to an old dream you had forgotten.

Mercury brings old things out of the closet and puts them back in front of you during this time.

Most people only think of Mercury Retrograde as causing communication problems or breakdowns of communication or travel equipment. Well these things are true but even in these matters, it is bringing you back to something you did before and may have ignored. You know, that sound your car was making that you just overlooked, or your refrigerator or washing machine, computer or cell phone.

Mercury requires you to take another look at things you put aside or left behind, or just plain refused to question or think about.

When it goes retrograde and activates something in your chart, that issue, activity, idea, or person suddenly reappears in your life and it is time to work it out, take action to dive in or let go.

Here is a letter I recently received from a client asking me about Mercury Retrograde:

Is it alright to talk to a former boss about transferring back to his Department during a Mercury retrograde.  I resigned from his Department several years ago and it was during a Mercury retrograde.

I had planned to talk to him next week.  But now I'm reconsidering due to Mercury.  The only reason I would go ahead with it is because I left there when Mercury was retrograde. However, on my first day of employment, Mercury was direct.

Here is my response:

It is not only all right, but the perfect time. When we resign or even if we are fired under a mercury retrograde, it indicates that the connection and job are not over. You will come back to it, reconsider it and most likely work together again. 

The key is to be very clear in all your statements and especially if you are signing any agreements. Make certain to get a job description in writing and do not assume anything about anything in writing. What it says is what it means. 

So if it includes something that was part of a job description in the past but that you never did do for whatever reason, do not assume it will be the same as before.

Get everything you want in writing now. Pay scale, raise incentives, annual increases, etc. because you can fall back on this contract. Verbal agreements will not be solid because the Mercury issues cause people not to remember what was said.

These are the keys to remember if you are taking on something new or renewing anything during Mercury Retrograde, GET IT IN WRITING AND MAKE SURE YOU GET IT DOWN THE WAY YOU WANT IT!

When we first moved into this house, I knew I wanted to change the counters in our kitchen, so I began to research the costs and hoped to get a good deal at some point. A few years pasted and I was at a Home Depot waiting in line during a Mercury Retrograde. I noticed that the counter-tops I wanted were on sale. I wondered if the price actually included the cost of removing the old counters because if it did, it would be a really excellent buy. I asked the woman in that department and she automatically said, "Yes." I knew it was Mercury Retrograde and I said, "Can you write that on my contract?" She said, "Yes." So I made the purchase.

A week later when the man arrived to do the counters, I said to him, "You going to remove the old counters, aren't you?" He slowly turned around and said to me, "Yes, for you I am going to, but we never do that. It's an extra charge, but you have it in the contract."

This is an example of how knowing that Mercury is retrograde, can be used to your advantage.

Sign away if you have what you want in writing and you will get it. But if you are not paying attention (as the women selling the counters did - she did not check before agreeing to write what I wanted in) then you give yourself a challenge.

Mercury is the planet of communication and when you understand this, you will realize communication failures can cause terrible problems. Here is a short list for you to consider:

Reservations - from airlines to weddings - all reservations are a form of communication.
Contracts - Leases to mortgages and loans.
Directions - Phone, computer, gps, even maps can be wrong!
Doctors evaluations, recommendations or medical instructions
Work related verbal directives
Promises
Airplane Control Towers
Dispatchers - police, truckers, postal, emergency, medical.

To make life run more smoothly pay attention to Mercury's three Retrograde periods each year, take time to note how they activate your personal chart and you will not only avoid problems, but you can find ways to make it benefit your life.
